SearchStripper is a small utility for use with RRH/SS BBS's that will selectively extract records from file transfer sections based on a comma delimited search list. The extracted records will be placed in another file transfer section of your choosing. The non-extracted records can (if the check box is selected) be put in another file transfer section, named with the extracted file transfer section and a '.s' extension. The original file transfer section is not touched.
The thing that prompted me to write SearchStripper was the acquisition of the BBS-In-A-Box CD-ROM, which is a very nice item to add to any BBS, however, I did not want to have to restructure my BBS to fit in with the file transfer sections supplied on the CD-ROM. For example, on the AppleSeeds BBS, I maintain a separate file transfer section for extensions (cdevs and INITs), whereas the CD-ROM had all extensions lumped into the Utilities section. The solution was to write a quick and dirty program that would extract all files that contained the words "INIT, cdev, FKEY, extension, etc" in either the filename, path, or description, and put them into a separate file transfer section that could be operated on by FSP (an excellent RRH utility, well worth the shareware fee).
Send me your bug reports. I probably won't go for more elaborate features, but if there is a bug I will try to fix it. The program worked fine for me on an LC II running System 7.0.1 in 32 bit mode and on an SE30 running System 7.0.1 in 24 bit mode.
